Etherio 225 RE1 server is a powerful two-processor configuration in a 2U chassis designed for RACK rcabinets, using Intel Xeon Scalable processors. It offers a wide range of processors for a variety of applications, and 12 slots for DDR4 memory modules fit into the optimal performance of a six channel memory controller. Extension slots are available for standard PCI Express cards and in addition you can use a disk controller in the form of a mezzanine card mounted in a dedicated slot directly on the motherboard.
Processors
Intel Xeon Scalable processors is a new family of products with diverse performance and functionality. Depending on the features they have been divided into classes: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. They differ in the number of cores, the base frequency, the presence or absence of Turbo mechanisms, the number of built-in units for floating point calculations (AVX-512 FMA units), the number of UPI connectors and even the max speed and capacity of supported RAM. They have built-in network interfaces (Ethernet) and support more PCIe lines than the previous generation. Among the multiple models, you can choose the one which perfectly suits your needs.
Memory
The server supports DDR4 Registered DIMM ECC (RDIMM), and Load Reduced DIMM (LRDIMM) with operating frequencies depending on the type of processor used and the available bandwidth of the UPI link. The 2400 MHz, 2666 MHz and 2933 MHz modules are available. In total up to 1,5TB RAM in 12 RDIMM modules and 1,5TB RAM in LRDIMM modules is supported. The modules can work in max. 6-channel configurations – this is the optimal setup for best performance.
Storage
Server supports: SATA HDD/SSD – there is build-in SATA controller on mainboard. For SAS support you need add-in card: SAS/SATA HBA or SAS/SATA RAID adater available as mezzanine module or standard PCI Express adapter. There is also possibility of supporting 2,5″ NVMe drives – depending on chassis model.
Chassis
2U RACK chassis with the possibility of installing up to 8 or 12 standard (3.5 “) SAS / SATA hot swap disks or 16” 2.5 “disks (SFF) SAS / SSD hot-swap. In addition, the version dedicated for 8 x 3.5 “disks is available in the” slim “optical drive .The chassis allows the use of PCI Express expansion cards in four sockets accepting full-height cards and two slots for “low profile”cards. The type and nominal power of the power supply depends on the specific chassis model.
